Noorteadlaste nappus seab küsimärgi alla eestikeelse kõrghariduse jätkumise

(Novaator)

“Nii nagu vajab Eesti teadussüsteem raha ja taristut, on selle tuleviku seisukohalt oluline ka noorteadlaste pealekasv. Eesti teadusagentuuri värske kogumiku "Eesti teadus 2025" andmetel on doktorantuuris õppijate arv viimase kümne aasta jooksul aga sootuks langenud ning kraaditöö kaitsmiseni jõuab vähem kui kaks kolmandikku doktorantidest.”

Üldiselt on Eesti täielik ime

Toomas Hendrik Ilves, Novaator

“Jättes kõrvale eestlaste kombe nende ümber toimuva üle pidevalt viriseda ja kaevelda, on Eesti paras ime, leiab president Toomas Hendrik Ilves vabariigi aastapäeva eel antud intervjuus. Samas pole inimesed tema sõnul veel piisavalt hästi aru saanud, et maailm on jõudnud uude ajastusse.”

Balti riigid pole Londonisse Ukraina sõja arutelule kutsutud

(ERR)

“Suurbritannia peaminister Keir Starmer kutsus pühapäevaks Londonisse Ukrainas käiva sõja arutelule 18 Euroopa riigi esindajad. Balti riigid kutset ei saanud. Selle asemel peab Starmer Balti riigijuhtidega pühapäeva hommikul telefonivestluse.”

Martin Herem: pilt on ülitume. Eesti muutub vahetusrahaks

(Postimees)

“Elame praegu samas vaimus kui 1939. aastal – peame kõnesid, räägime, kui ilusad ja targad me oleme, aga raha riigikaitsesse ei pane. Pisut enam kui pool aastat tagasi läks kindral Herem erru, sest ütleb, et kukkus poliitikuid tegudele veenda püüdes läbi.”

Major powers once again selfishly dividing up world - Estonian defense chief

(Postimees)

“The commander of the Estonian defense forces, Maj. Gen. Andrus Merilo, said in his speech on the anniversary of the Republic of Estonia on Monday that some of the world’s great powers are once again selfishly dividing up the spoils, and in doing so, they have failed to learn from history and are unconcerned with the possibility that they are causing nations to be ensnared in the iron grip of doom.”

The battle for Ukraine is ending. The battle for Europe is about to begin

By Michał Kranz, The Eastern Flank

“One would’ve had to have been asleep under a rock for the last six months not to understand by now that America’s days as Europe’s security guarantor are over — but just in case that wasn’t yet clear enough, the events of the last week have dispelled any remaining doubt on the matter.”

“The U.S. president is certainly not interested in another European war breaking out on his watch, but if Putin is able to sweet-talk him into pining about Russia and America’s glorious past as World War II allies and suggesting Ukraine “may be Russian someday,” then who’s to say the U.S. president won’t shrug off a Russian attack on Estonia to “liberate” ethnic Russians from the “oppressive Tallinn regime”?

Russia Has Failed to Break Ukraine

(ISW)

“… Russian forces have failed to restore the operational maneuver necessary to achieve operationally significant gains rapidly. Russia has thus paid an exorbitant price in manpower and equipment losses that Russia cannot sustain in the medium term for very limited gains.”

“Russian losses in massive efforts that have failed to break Ukrainian lines or even drive them back very far are exacerbating challenges that Russia will face in sustaining the war effort through 2025 and 2026, as ISW's Christina Harward has recently reported. Russia likely cannot sustain continued efforts along these lines indefinitely without a major mobilization effort that Russian President Vladimir Putin has so far refused to order. Ukraine, on the other hand, has shown its ability to fight off massive and determined Russian offensive efforts even during periods of restricted Western aid. The effective failure of these major and costly Russian offensive operations highlights the opportunities Ukraine has to inflict more serious battlefield defeats on Russia that could compel Putin to rethink his approach to the war and to negotiations if the United States and the West continue to provide essential support.
